Storm

HOLY SHIT.

I was just about to go to my room on campus, from my parents. They live in Hengelo, I live in Enschede, it would be a 30 minute bike ride. However, before I left I noticed the sky was really dark, and I already saw on the radar that there would be quite a heavy thunder/rainstorm, but it wouldn't hit us til 16.00. So I hurried and went out, and after 30 seconds I saw a beautiful stormy sky, clouds moving quickly and twirling around.. that SHOULD'VE been a warning to me but I was fascinated.. I went on, and when I was near the shopping centre, a blast of wind almost made me fall of my bike. I stepped off, tried again, only to be wind and sandblasted again. I turned around and wanted to go back to my parents, when it seemed to clear a bit. I tried again, but with no effects; I couldn't even get in the right direction because I'd be blasted the other way.. in the meantime rain had started pouring down, but that was ok actually, it had been (over) 30 degrees so that was quite welcome. I went home eventually, after walking/biking next to tree branches that were moved as if they weighed nothing, a fallen tree, everything was airbound.. it was fascinating, yet scary. I got home, of course, completely soaked but unharmed. That later proved to be a case of luck.

The train station of hengelo lost a part of its roof
Trees had fallen onto houses and cars (apparently there's at least 1 death in Haaksbergen, from someone that was in their car when a tree fell on it)
A roof went skybound and fell on the road..

and many more, on the festival De Zwarte Cross (will start the 17th) one or two of the tents went flying, resulting in several injured and complete chaos.

I'll try and find some photo's when I get to my campus home, everything's cleared up by now, but around 6 there's another storm to be expected..

UPDATE:
well, I got to my home. I counted 14 fallen trees, countless damaged trees and branches on the roads..
